There are a number of annual cultural shows in Papua New Guinea, which provide the opportunity to witness sing sing groups from throughout the country – in an extravaganza of vibrant colours, unique cultures and extraordinary experiences.

Mount Hagen Cultural Show (16-19August 2019)
Perhaps the most famous cultural show in Papua New Guinea. A world cultural gathering of many of the opulently decorated cultural groups of this incredibly diverse land. Goroka Highlands Festival (13-16 Sept 2019)
Goroka Highlands Festival is held in September, and after the festival, you will get a chance to discover other areas of Papua New Guinea, especially the Highlands and Sepik areas.

Rabaul Mask Festival (09-13 July 2019)
The first day of the festival usually includes the “Kinavai” – arrival of the Tolai Tubuans at dawn, then Mask dances from various local villages. You will learn from your tour guide about diverse sing sings and traditional customs. Attend a local traditional “Baining Fire dance” from the Baining people of mainland East New Britain. The night-time traditional dance, gives you a rare opportunity to experience initiated young men perform harrowing dances through blazing fires amidst evocative chanting by their elders.
