This itinerary is ideal for the first time visitor to Greece, exploring the highlights of the mainland and the Greek Islands.

On arrival at Athens Airport you will be welcomed to Greece by your local representative as you exit customs into the arrivals hall, and transferred to your hotel where you will be assisted with check-in procedures.

Overnight: Electra Palace

Your guide will take you on a half day excursion by private vehicle to explore the Acropolis and the Parthenon, one of the most important ancient monuments in the Western world, which was dedicated to the Goddess Athena and conceived in 447BC. Afterwards you will enjoy a walk through the ancient district of Plaka, one of the most picturesque and interesting parts of the city.

This afternoon is at leisure to relax and explore Athens independently. You might like to relax spending some time in the well equipped spa or on the roof top at your hotel sipping a cocktail at the pool bar.

Today you are privately transferred to Athens Airport to board your flight to Crete. Upon arrival at Iraklion Airport you are met by your local guide and privately transferred to your hotel. En route, stop at Knossos to visit the famous palace which belonged to King Minos and was the centre of the Minoan civilisation. Evidence has been unearthed of mosaic floors, the grand staircase and the throne complex. Continue to your hotel where you will be assisted with check-in.

Today you are transferred to the port and ferried by local Caique to Spinalonga Island, which has been of exceptional strategic importance throughout history. It’s fortress, built by the Venetians in 1579, defended the city of Elounda. The enormous bastions enclose various partially preserved buildings, including some 16thcentury chapels.

This afternoon is at your leisure to relax and enjoy all the hotel facilities. You may like to spend time in the Elounda Beach Spa.

This morning, you will meet your English-speaking guide and private vehicle for a half-day excursion. Your tour will begin at the picturesque village of Kritsa, renowned for its traditional weaving. See the famous byzantine church of Panagia Kera with its beautiful frescoes. You will then be driven to the Minoan settlement and archaeological site of Gournia. Gournia is the only example of a large town far from the great palaces and in some sense independent of them, and so it is of particular interest for the evidence it provides of everyday living.

Spend the day relaxing and enjoying the facilities at the Elounda Beach Hotel. If you are a water fanatic the Water Sports Centre at your hotel offers sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, fishing, and jet skiing.

Today you will be privately transferred to Crete Airport in time for your flight to Santorini. On arrival you will be welcomed to the island by your local representative as you exit customs into the arrivals hall, and transferred to your hotel where you will be assisted with check-in procedures.

You will be met by your local guide this morning for your private half day tour beginning with a visit to Fira. Here you can walk to the edge of the caldera for a spectacular view. This will be followed by a visit to the Archaeological Museum.

Travel back to the charming village of Oia for a stroll through the narrow streets with your guide who will tell you about the history of the blue-domed churches and show you a selection of shops, art galleries and taverns which you may wish to return to during your stay in Santorini.

You will have free time today to relax and enjoy the facilities at Perivolas Hotel.

Dinner suggestion: You might like to travel to the other side of the island and try the cuisine of the Vinsanto’ Restaurant & Lounge located at the exclusive Vedema Resort. The restaurant offers creative Mediterranean cuisine masterfully prepared and presented by an award-winning chef. Dinner is served in a 400-year-old winery or at the open-air dining area surrounded by authentic black volcanic stones. You will taste delicacies from a rich creative menu prepared with the freshest local ingredients and various fine products from all over the world. Before dinner you might like to try the Canava’ Wine Bar, a 400-year-old winery that stands as a catacomb in the middle of the resort. Converted into a unique wine bar, it offers its guests a distinguishing atmosphere and the possibility to take part in a ceremonial wine tasting (subject to reservation) and be introduced to different kinds of selected white wines produced on the island.
