In this 12 day itinerary your family will experience an exhilarating Toboggan ride descending from the Great Wall in Beijing, learn and watch Kung Fu in Shaolin Temple in Zhengzhoua with a Private Kung Fu Class by a master, see the spectacular Xian’s Terra Cotta Warriors, close encounter with pandas in Chengdu and a chance to Hug a baby Panda, bicycle ride in Guilin’s local farm village.
Day 1 – Arrive Beijing
Arrive in Beijing, China’s political and cultural hub, and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 – Beijing
Walk or take a cable car to the top of the Great Wall of China. Hop on a toboggan for an exciting ride back down. Later, view the Beijing National Stadium, also known as the “Bird’s Nest,” and the National Aquatics Center, dubbed the “Water Cube.” After your exciting first day enjoy a cocktail and welcome dinner at the hotel.
Day 3 – Beijing
Enjoy a morning tai chi class at the Temple of Heaven. Ride like a local on a pedicab through a hutong filled with winding alleyways. After lunch, walk in the footsteps of Emperors in the Forbidden City and wander Tiananmen Square. Tonight, take in a thrilling Kung Fu show.
Day 4 – Beijing – Zhengzhou
Take a bullet train to Zhengzhou. Play a game against the elite young ping pong players in the Henan Provincial Sports Institute. Visit the Henan Provincial Museum which houses a comprehensive and extensive collection of historic wonders. Get a “hands on” session to learn about the Chinese musical instrument. Conclude your day with a night market visit before kicking back at your hotel.
Day 5 – Zhengzhou – Shaolin Temple/Zhengzhou
Enjoy a day of Kung Fu! Today, take a day trip to the Shaolin Temple – the origin of Chinese Kung Fu. You will participate in a private Kung Fu class and watch a performance by the master.
Day 6 – Zhengzhou – Xian
Take a bullet train to the historic Xian. Then, enter the Ancient Gate of Xian’s City Wall and cycle or stroll along its ramparts. Tonight, delight in a dumpling-making demonstration at a local restaurant.
Day 7 – Xian
Marvel at the legendary Terra Cotta Warriors, thousands of life-sized ceramic soldiers “guarding” the tomb of China’s first emperor. Visit a pottery factory and make your own terra cotta soldier. Visit a pottery centre to make a Terra Cotta Warrior
Day 8 – Xian/Chengdu
Fly to Chengdu. Visit the food market to pick up some ingredients for your private cooking class in the Sichuan Provincial Cooking School. Later on, in the afternoon, enjoy a city orientation tour.
Day 9 – Chengdu
Visit the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center to encounter China’s living national emblem playing in its natural habitat. Attend the Sichuan Opera for a mystifying face changing performance.
Day 10 – Chengdu – Guilin – Yangshuo
Fly to Guilin and transfer to Yangshuo. Take a bicycle ride in the rural Fuli village and take a crafts class in fan and lantern making. Enjoy a nightly show of Liu San Jie before heading for dinner.
Day 11 – Yangshuo
Travel to the Xingping Village for a private ride on a bamboo raft along a tributary of the Li River. Return to Yangshuo for lunch and afternoon kayaking or rock climbing session.
Day 12 – Depart Yangshuo
Fly to Beijing for your international flight back to USA.
